Part of the services provided by P. M. P. Associates, LLC involves the various engineering aspects related to the in-ground disposal of sanitary wastewater through the use of septic systems. In Massachusetts, the State Sanitary Code that pertains to septic systems is commonly called Title 5. This Code (310CMR15)is the basis for the engineering standards applied in the design of new and replacement septic systems for both small residential and commercial properties. In addition to the State Sanitary Code, each local Board of Health generally has their own set of rules and regulations that govern the engineering design of septic systems.
Some of the technical services provided by P.M.P. Associates, LLC include Soil Evaluator Services and Septic System Design Services for new construction and for the repair of existing systems. For larger systems, the engineering design includes a pressure-dosed disposal system and in some instances additional treatment of the wastewater.

Due to a false perception that engineers are more strict when evaluating the condition of an existing system, Septic System Inspection services for small residential systems are no longer being provided by P.M.P. Associates, LLC. Our office does provide advice to our Clients in regards to the System Inspection process. Should a septic system fail to pass the Title 5 Inspection, P.M.P. Associates, LLC provides the services necessary to evaluate the soils and prepare the design plans for the "repair". P.M.P. Associates, LLC has prepared a small pamphlet called "Valuable
Information on Title 5 Septic System Perc. Testing, Soil Evaluation &
Design Engineering" that fully outlines, in a "step by step" process,
the tasks that need to be done when a septic system fails to pass the
Title 5 Inspection. A copy of this pamphlet is available for download in
a "PDF" format (see our Septic System Navigation section on this page). P.M.P. Associates, LLC does provide Septic System Inspection services for large and shared systems which are mandated by the State as part of the large system permit requirements.
P.M.P. Associates, LLC also provides Health Agent & Technical Design Review Services to local communities. (See Municipal Consulting) Our Health Agent services include the witnessing of the soil evaluation and percolation process, septic system design plan review, part-time construction observation, enforcement consulting and preparation of revised local regulations.
Since the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) revised the Sanitary Code in 1995, there has been a great deal of confusion regarding "Title 5". In order to help with some of the answers, a Frequently Asked Questions page has been prepared as part of our web site. The latest revision now in effect includes percolation rates between 30 and 60 mpi as well as new policy changes.
As a service to our clients and web site visitors, a short list of excavation contractors and licensed septic system installers for the greater Bridgewater, MA area has been assembled. This list is not meant to be an all inclusive directory or a recommentdation for a specific contractor, but represents those contractors that have provided excavation services for the soil evalution/percolation testing and septic system installers that have constructed systems designed by P. M. P. Associates, LLC.
